What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a drug-free, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal system. Chiropractors practice a manual approach, providing diagnosis, treatment and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and extremity joints.
What Can it be Used to Treat?
Chiropractors use a combination of treatments, all of which are determined by the specific needs of the individual patient. Common conditions that benefit from chiropractic care include headaches (cervicogenic, tension-type, and migraine), facet syndrome, discogenic pain, degenerative joint and disc disease, SI syndrome, and Whiplash Associated Disorders I-III.
What Can I Expect?
After taking a complete history, performing a thorough examination, and providing a diagnosis, your chiropractor will develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment/management plan, recommend therapeutic exercises and provide dietary advice. You can also expect your Doctor to supply you with general support and lifestyle counseling as well as many other non-invasive therapies. The treatment/management plan will likely include spinal manipulative therapy (“adjustments”), soft tissue/muscle release, joint mobilizations, and postural corrections.
